Notes

A release from the project **GEMS** yardsale tapes.

-I'll leave it up to the listener to find all the patches, source changes and what not. I dont keep that good of notes.
-The good stuff is MR>cass and MR>cass>cass from the yardsale benefactor.
-The multi generation sources that fill in the parts the yardsale tapes didnt have were quickly and graciously transferred by the venerable Matt Smith for this release.
-No patch in birdsong, small reel flip.
-The encore is very rough and it was the only song with any sonic adjustments. You are forewarned.
- LLer USBlues also had a hand in some patch material. And both were instrumental in the work and qc on this. Thanks Guys!!

I kid you not when i say this was a a herculean project, so much that I avoided it for weeks at a time..had the tapes for a good while. So its finally done and there are still some serious inconsistencies, but its way better thans whats out there and i have a lot to do. I corrected almost every tune pitch wise. It's pretty good now but was on some songs it was 1% off and some closer to 3%, with no ryhme or reason to it aLL. Took a lot of listening. It takes about 9 hours in high resolutiuon to correct one 45 minute tape side. Lots of trial and error, so dont expect a miracle but a generally pleasant listening experience.

My transfers were TascamMKII >Korg MR1000 at 1bit/5.6mHZ.
Matt's were cass> Apogee Mini Me>apogeeDAC>LynxOne at 24/96 PCM WAV

All Edits and Mastering By Jamie Waddell on the **GEMS** Edit Station at 32bitfloat/88.2kHz
Weiss Saracon for SRC and POW-r3 dither to 16 bit/44.1 kHz

Too bad for Cold Rain and Snow, Wharf Rat, and Rockin' Pneumonia. They seem to be all patches. Not a great recording here.

this is the best sounding version of this show on the archive but i reccomend getting the third set from this version:

http://www.archive.org/details/gd72-09-03.sbd.new.hanno.20168.sbeok.shnf

Maybe a Charlie Miller remaster will pop up soon? Lets hope...this show needs it bad. The highlights for me are Mexicali Blues, China Cat, He's Gone > Other One > Wharf Rat, Playing In The Band.

Awesome show. The dp36 filler tunes are just amazing. A perfect version of He"s Gone into a truly trippy 01. Attending one of these 3 set monsters like this show must have been great. The Fall tour 72 is a massive peak time for the band and it comes nearly right after the Europe 72 peak. 'Twas such a grateful year.

I do have to give only 3 to 4 stars for the lack of quality available sources for this great music, but a strong 4 to 4.5 stars musically for this 3 set mammoth.

Subject: Saturday Night encore?
Is One More Saturday Night really from this show? It's not listed in DeadBase or DeadLists. Fantastic job on this project, btw. If you want to splice in the 2 missing pieces of Bird Song, check the aud version on this site. Absolutely listenable. So about that Sat Nite encore...anyone???
